Thank You for Your Support in 2023
Following our holiday concerts, I always enjoy the pause in our weekly rehearsal cycles, the chance to reflect on the closing of the year, and the renewal of bonds with those closest to us. We loved offering our recent holiday concert, Yuletide: From the Pacific Northwest, which celebrated local and living composers and their reflections on the renewal of the seasons, light, hope and peace.
We are fortunate that our area has such a wealth of artists and a community that values the artistry on display. We hope you will consider making a donation to further our work in giving voice to Northwest composers and presenting the finest works of choral art to our audiences.
When you donate, you help make a difference in the art we can create. You also share ownership in the community we are all building together.
As this year draws to a close, we’d like to share a favorite CAE concert memory with you. This piece is “Yon Monn Nouvo,” or “A World Anew,” and was also the title of our concert that featured the music of Haitian-American Sydney Guillaume.
Guillaume calls Portland his home, and we were the first ensemble in his home town to feature a concert exclusively of his works. In this piece he expresses his fondest hope for humanity, that if we can build strong communities, we will forge “A World Anew”. We were joined by the Linn-Benton Community College Chamber Choir in October of 2022 at Rose City Park United Methodist Church.
